Sample ogg file
OGG is an open-source container format from the Xiph.Org Foundation — free of the licensing fees and patent restrictions that shaped MP3 and AAC's early history. Most commonly it wraps audio encoded with the Vorbis codec, though the same container can also hold FLAC or Speex.
Being unencumbered by licensing made OGG the preferred format for open-source software and games — it's still the default audio format in many game engines and Linux audio tooling, even though it never reached MP3's level of mainstream consumer adoption.
Use the sample below to confirm your media player, transcoder, or web audio player implementation actually supports OGG/Vorbis, since support is less universal than MP3's.
